A lot of the houses round Dunstable and Houghton Regis went up from the 1930s to the 70s, and plenty still have their original textured ceilings. In most cases we can bond and skim straight over the Artex rather than scraping it off.
These houses also tend to have the walls people want out. We take out the wall between kitchen and dining room, put the beam in and plaster the lot, so it looks like it was built that way.
